We want to alert users to a growing scam affecting online marketplaces worldwide.
In these scams, fraudsters impersonate sellers, buyers, or support agents and direct users to external payment or “verification” links or guide them by phone or chat. What many users do not realize is that these payments are actually processed as cryptocurrency purchases. They first find out after a purchase is completed.
Cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible and effectively untraceable once sent. Unfortunately, this means funds cannot be recovered after the transaction is completed.
Common warning signs
Be cautious if:
You are asked to pay using a link outside the marketplace
Someone guides you step by step through the payment
You are asked to leave the platform to complete payment or verification

Final reminder
If you are unaware that a payment involves cryptocurrency — or only learn this after paying — you may be involved in a scam.
When in doubt, stop and do not proceed.
