How to Create an Abra Wallet and Set it Up?

Abra is a global mobile wallet which supports 28 cryptocurrencies. It is easy to use and allows you to buy cryptocurrencies in different ways. One of these options is “Buy Bitcoin with SEPA” developed in partnership with Coinify which is responsible for the actual processing of the transaction  - i.e. the whole process from placing an order to delivering the bitcoins to your Abra wallet. In this article, you will find out how to install the Abra Wallet on your mobile phone.

1. Download Abra Wallet

Depending on your mobile device, you can do this from:

Google Play (for Android devices)
Apple App Store (for iOS devices)

2. Sign Up

  • From the sign-up screen, choose sign up.

  • Fill in the sign-up form and press continue once you have entered all the required information.

  • Next, on the Registration Code Screen, you will be asked to enter a code that Abra will send to your mobile phone.

  • Type the code and press Continue. If you do not receive the code, tap resend code.

  • On the PIN prompt screen, you will be asked to select a four-digit PIN. Re-enter the PIN to confirm and remember that you will need to use this PIN to access your wallet.

  • On the Restore your wallet prompt screen, tap “Show my phrase now”.

  • The next screen will show you 13 random words uniquely created to protect your Abra wallet.

  • Carefully write them down and store them securely offline.

  • Although you can bypass this step by tapping “Remind me later”, we strongly recommend you complete this step as soon as possible to avoid losing access to your wallet.

  • Following this, tap “Allow” to give Abra the permission to send your phone push notifications.

  • Next, you will see the Add Money screen which will give you information on how to add money to your Abra Wallet. Tap the “Add Money” button to add funds to your wallet.

  • You can also skip this step for the time being if you tap “ I will do this latter”.

  • The Exchange Screen will show you how you can buy, sell or exchange currencies with Abra. From here you can select the option to buy Bitcoin with SEPA Bank Transfer.

!Please Note: Abra is a non-custodial wallet which means that your Abra wallet is held privately on your phone; it is not hosted and neither Abra nor Coinify has access to your funds or the associated recovery phrase. That is why, whoever has access to your recovery phrase will be able to access your wallet, and if you lose it, you will also lose the access to your wallet and we will not be able to help you.

Hence, please make sure to write down your recovery phrase as soon as possible and store it offline in a safe place.
