Important Customer Alert: Don’t Get Tricked by Phone Scammers

Posted on 5 February, 2018

Dear customers,

We have recently tracked down some fraudsters making phone calls pretending to be Coinify staff. They offer the possibility of buying company shares or to make quick investments with credit cards.

Please note that Coinify does not provide phone support. And that in the event of an exceptional phone call, Coinify employees will never ask you to initiate any financial transaction (in crypto or fiat currency).

Furthermore, there is a popular scam scenario where fraudsters pretend to be calling from Microsoft to renew licences and ask to give access to the person's computer to check some settings and request a payment. Meanwhile, they steal the payment information and are able to make a payment from your name to buy Bitcoin from us. Unfortunately, it is very difficult for us to stop these transactions or recognise them as fraudulent since the fraudsters have all information needed to authenticate and confirm the payment.

We suggest that you stay cautious about any suspicious calls that pretend to be made by Coinify staff. It is important that you do not make any transactions or share your payment information in such situation.

If you notice in your bank transaction list payments to Coinify which you have not made yourself, please contact your bank first as they might be able to help you. You are welcome to contact us as well as we would like to take the necessary measures to prevent this card being used again for purchases from us.
However, please take into account that Coinify will not be liable for any loss resulting from such transactions, as these are made with the consent of the card or bank account holder.

If you received one of those calls, please be careful. If you wish to buy or sell Bitcoin, contact our support specialists here.
